Star Chart is now available for free, making it an excellent educational and augmented reality astronomy app. With over 20 million users, it has become a popular choice for stargazers.
Now, you can carry a virtual star chart with you wherever you go. By using your iPhone or iPad's camera, Star Chart provides a high-tech window into the vast universe.
To use the app, simply point your AR-enabled device at the sky, and Star Chart will identify the celestial bodies you are looking at in real time. Utilizing state-of-the-art GPS technology and accurate 3D simulation, it calculates the current location of every star, planet, and moon visible from Earth, even during daylight hours.
Curious about the name of a bright star? Point your device at it, and you might discover it's a planet. Want to see what the night sky looks like from the other side of the Earth? Just point your device downwards! Additionally, Star Chart can reveal the position of your star sign in the sky and provide other informative details.
The features of Star Chart include:

- Dynamically scaled visuals and capabilities across all iOS devices
- An accurate depiction of approximately 120,000 visible stars from both hemispheres

- The ability to shift up to 10,000 years forward or backward in time with the Time Shift feature
- Presentation of all 88 constellations featuring artwork by 17th-century astronomer Johannes Hevelius
- The complete catalog of 110 deep sky objects from the Messier catalogue
- The option to tap on any sky object to access details like distance and brightness
- A powerful zoom function for detailed sky viewing using finger gestures
- Full configurability, allowing you to choose which sky objects are displayed
- A view of the sky beneath the horizon, including the position of the sun at night
- The ability to manually set your location and see the sky from anywhere in the world
- Support for dynamic device orientation viewing, allowing you to hold your iPhone or iPad at any angle
